Disappointment

Stuck in level 1

Since I returned to Wing Chun in June, I’ve had a feeling I’m treated like a total beginner who just started training.

I understand why. For more than one year, it seemed I quit. I had health and work problems, and something happened to me I don’t wish anyone ever experiences.

I returned to Wing Chun, having largely recovered from that mess. I found the training sessions brought me peace and so I supplemented them with home trainings every day, being enthusiastic and all.

But things have changed now. There are exams, competition… and everyone is ahead of me.

So now I had to prove I’m not a total beginner by taking an exam.

Which I failed miserably. Because while I’ve mostly recovered, I’m still way too stressed to take anything resembling an exam.

The result? I couldn’t even do the J step. Yeah, the one I trained all summer no matter where I was. We even trained it in the last session! But, stressed out as I was, I completely went blank and did something else instead.

And of course when I realized it wasn’t the J step, I did it wrong again.

Now I’ll be treated like a total beginner until the end of time.

Congratulations, girl.

Lesson of the day:  Merry Christmas.
